AMS-MAA Special Session on Getting Started in Undergraduate Research: Topics, Tools, and Open Problems
The goal of the session is to provide faculty with specific tools they need to mentor undergraduate research. The intended audience is faculty who want to direct undergraduate research but aren’t sure where to start. Interested undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend as well! The talks will fall into two categories:
- Very specific research topics and open problems.
- General tips/advice for starting/maintaining an undergraduate research agenda.
For more practical advice, survey articles, project ideas, and open problems check out the Foundations for Undergraduate Research in Mathematics Series of Texts by Springer.
They are excellent resources for Senior Research Seminars and Capstone courses. Please encourage your institution's library to purchase a copy.
